Abstract The research shows that in the period before the Islamic Awakening, the convergence of Iran, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt was based on cultural and historical commonalities as well as economic interests, but there were also political and ideological divergences. After the Islamic Awakening, the convergence and divergence of these three countries was based on complex political, religious, and economic interactions. These interactions included competition for regional influence, differences in interpretation of political Islam, and responses to global developments such as the Islamic Awakening. Ultimately, the analysis shows that internal factors such as political structure, external factors such as great power interventions, and ideological factors all played key roles in shaping this complex pattern of convergence and divergence. This comparison helps to better understand regional developments and the challenges facing Iran, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt. The method of this research is a comparison that compares the causes and factors of convergence and divergence between Iran, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt before and after the Islamic Awakening, according to the theory of regionalism.

Abstract Undoubtedly, the Islamic Republic of Iran is one of the major and influential powers in the developments in the Middle East. After the victory of the Islamic Revolution, Yemen has been one of the most important spheres of influence and influence of the foreign policy of the Islamic Republic of Iran. Although the Islamic Revolution sparked a model of Islamic awakening among Yemeni Shiites, including the Zaydis and the Houthi movement, the awakening intensified after the Yemeni popular uprising escalated after 2011. The formation of a people's government, which is the main demand of the Yemeni revolutionaries, can strengthen Tehran's interests. Hence, Saudi Arabia, as Iran's main rival in the region, has always tried to maintain the balance of power in the region to the detriment of Iran and to its advantage, and its attack on Yemen and trying to establish an Arab alliance, as well as to establish Media propaganda against Iran is, in fact, rooted in the rise of Iranian power in the region. Based on this, the main question of the leading research is what approach has the Islamic Republic of Iran taken in its foreign policy towards the political developments in Yemen? The findings of the study indicate that the Islamic Republic of Iran, based on the discourse of the Islamic Revolution, by strengthening the revolutionary sense and spiritual and political support of the Shiite movement in Yemen, has tried to establish its regional sphere of influence and power by establishing a Shiite government and ally in this country. Expand Asia in the West and reduce Saudi Arabia's influence and influence in the region. The qualitative research method is explanatory-causal and the data analysis method is based on the use of library resources.

Recent Developments in Islamic World; Islamic Awakening or Arab Spring; a Conceptual Study

Volume 3, Issue 3, Summer 2014, Pages 215-237

Jalil Dara, Mahmoud Baba'ee

Abstract In the face of different opinions proposed about the Islamic awakening and Arab spring, one point that has preoccupied the minds of political analysts is that which one of these two terms better describes recent developments. Various points have been put forth by advocates of both terms and each term indicates some aspects of the events. The hypothesis of this article is based on this viewpoint that although terming the recent events in Islamic world as "Arab Spring" has managed to describe and investigate part of recent events, it is an improper and incomplete description and it is "Islamic awakening" that, as a more comprehensive term but with a regional approach, can provide an internal and more realistic analysis to study the reasons behind these events while endorsing many reasons proposed by thinkers who believe in Arab spring. Not only this term clarifies the recent events but also helps describe their past and future in a more tangible and acceptable fashion.
