Defense in the complex landscape of the contemporary global society stands as one of the most fundamental identity-forming actions within the institutional fabric of any nation, aimed at safeguarding its tangible and intangible assets. Given the enemy’s reliance on state-of-the-art offensive capabilities, alongside the employment of unconventional warfare methods and their convergence, it has become imperative to acknowledge the blurred boundaries between hard and soft threats as an inevitable dynamic of modern warfare logic. In this context, the unique strategic position of the Islamic Republic of Iran necessitates, more than ever, the development of deterrent models capable of addressing hybrid warfare threats. This study explores the conceptual construct of “Jihad-e-Tabyin” (Jihad of Clarification), derived from the macro-defensive school of the country’s “Defensive Thought” of Imam Khamenei, to analyze its multi-dimensional functional aspects in confronting the enemy’s most modern threats. Through this investigation, the study demonstrates how “Jihad-e-Tabyin,” as a defensive model, utilizes dynamic deterrence mechanisms to neutralize the efficacy of the adversary’s hybrid strategies within the theater of cognitive warfare. The research hypothesis, supported by the findings, posits that the conceptual construct of “Jihad-e-Tabyin”—as the product of transforming the experiences of the Sacred Defense into an applied theory—acts as the country’s most comprehensive defensive framework; it not only possesses a dynamic deterrence mechanism but is also significantly successful in countering the hybrid strategies of the hostile front. The present study is conducted using a qualitative research method with a content analysis approach, grounded in the foresight (futures studies) paradigm, as inherent in the nature of defense studies.
